Blog assignment 2

Now I’ve watched the presentation named “Story of stuff” by Annie Leonard. The presentation will probably get me thinking once or twice regarding various commercials for a while, very interesting lecture.

By the way, I came to think that you can get fooled every week. The grocery stores ICA’ve started with Super Cut here and there, but in fact the price is unchanged. Just look under the sign in the store and check out the original price that will be the same as on the sign. This applies especially for ICA's very own brand. I just wonder if they have the right to trick us like that. If there is someone who makes a Super Cut, then surely it is them.

The same applies to stores such as Elgiganten, who claim that they have lowered the price. In fact the price is often no different from before. This isn't really my area though, maybe they have some kind of loophole that allows them to try and trick us.

Back to the story of stuff, what caught my attention the most was probably the computer manufacturers. I've never thought that they changed the design of the processors in order to get a new buying cycle started.
Maybe it's true, but then perhaps the development forces them change the design. As you might already know, nowadays everything should be as small as they possibly can.

  1. Don´t end up going through the prices at the supermarkets. The range and demands will get an average price anyways.
Still i think you said alot of interesting things, like:
"As you might already know, nowadays everything should be as small as they possibly can"
That is absolutely true! Can´t wait too see whats the new supersmall product is.

People who can make a profit by trying to pull of a hoax, will probably try! so atleast you should do a research before you buy something more expensive.

  2. I think i would go mad if I start compare all prices at different stores only to know I walk out knowing ive done a good deal. But are we really getting fooled with these "super cuts"? You pay the the same price as before but you walk out thinking you saved money. So yes I agree with you. We are getting fooled! But at least we think we done a good deal. And as long as we think that way there are no reason to dig deeper into this area in my point of view. At least not when buying groceries at ICA. Or is it me being lazy and dumb? Probably!

  3. On the matter of prices on the signs and the shelfs the stores often change the price on the shelf so the customer don´t get to see how much he/she has saved. This is because the customer often don´t save much.

The big problem as I see it is the stores "own" products. These products are often a bit cheaper but I have seen that they often are packed in a just as big package but the package contains less then another brand. The "own" product can also contain the same weight/number of/amount as another brand but when you read the table of content you will see that the "own" product contains less expensive "stuff" than the other brand.

    Best regards!
